The first thing you must understand is that there are many classified advertising websites on the internet. Most of them are free or offer cheap upgrades to your free ad.
Here is a simple way to do this and some tips on how to write good classified ads.
First of all. set up a list of the classified advertising sites you want to use and keep track of each ad you are running and when you posted it. As time marches on most of your ads will get buried. The fresher the ad is, the higher it will show up in the listings.
Find the classified sites you will be using and set up your accounts. You will have to set up an account on most of these sites so you can log in and edit your ads, update your ads, or delete your ads. It is so much easier if you find a user name and password that is unique so you can use it on all your classified accounts.

It is amazing how many absolutely pathetic headlines and ads I see everyday on different classified websites. When someone tells you classified advertising is a waste of time it is probably because the ads they write are awful.
Now that you have collected a list of classified sites and created a swipe folder for ideas it is time to write and place your ads.
What we will focus on here is producing your ads, monitoring your ads, and tracking your ads.
First of all, after you have set up your account and logged in to the classified website you must locate the right category to place your ad in. Before you sign up make sure they even have a category that fits your offer.
Many of the categories you will find are: Work from home, MLM, Home Business opportunities, etc…
Now that you have found the right category you can begin to design your ad. Remember, every ad must provide a link to your capture page because that is the purpose of running the ad in the first place.
The Headline – This will make or break your ad.
If you do not write a compelling interest grabbing headline people will simply skip over your ad and continue down the page. Before you write a headline skim through all the ads you see and start noting the ones that grab your attention. This will give you ideas as to how to word your headline. The best ad content in the world means nothing if your headline does not generate clicks. Remember, the headline should be offering a solution to something, addressing a need and above all, answer the question…
“What’s in it for me!” Define Your Target Market.
Who are you trying to reach? Do not write an ad for everyone or you will attract no one. Once you determine who exactly this message is targeted to you can than write your ad. Your headline should be geared to grab the attention of your target market! Put yourself in the prospects shoes.
You want to read through headlines until you find something that hits on what you are looking for. After you click on the headline you expect to find information related to the headline you clicked on. After reading the ad you want to have a call to action which would be a link to your capture page.
Very important. The headline and the ad you write will determine the type of person you attract. Easy money, get rich quick scheme ads, will attract lazy, opportunistic people that are looking for the easy road to success. These are not people you want to waste your time with. “How To” headlines work great and so do interesting statements that want you to see what the next line is.
Once you have created a good headline it is time to move on to the body of your ad.
Your Classified Ad Content
The ad content must be a continuation of the headline. People get upset when they click on a headline and the ad changes the subject. Stay on message and above all, keep it short and simple. Many people take the headline from their capture page and use it as the body of their ad.
The goal here is to create content that gives just enough information to make the reader want to click to your capture page.
Make sure you call the person to take action by clicking on the link to receive more information.
Example: ” Find out more right now by clicking YourCapturePage”
Effective classified advertising is an ongoing process.
Keep a folder of all your ads on your desktop. You can easily lose track of all the ads you are running if you do not stay organized and keep track of every classified website and ad you are running.
Many classified websites will require you to click on a confirmation link via email to become a member. Set up a folder in your email box for these emails. If you are using multiple usernames and passwords you need to list these also.
As time passes you will soon have dozens of ads running all over the internet creating traffic to your capture pages. If you do not stay organized you can easily lose control and the ability to monitor which ads are working and which sites are sending you the most traffic.
I have spoken with serious classified advertisers that are generating 5-10 leads per day from classified marketing only. The key is to be consistent and continue to change your headlines until you find the ones that work.
The most important thing to understand is that you can do very well with classified advertising if you stay organized, test your headlines and ad copy, and do it everyday.
